Closed

We closed out our fiscal year today. This is good, but it meant 4 brutal, 13 hour days of review, corrections, presentations, complicated spreadsheets, failed interfaces, phone calls to the other brands, explanations, last minute adjusting entries and crossing our fingers that we didn't miss anything. I make a presentation to our CFO and Senior Management every month during close, but this month I was so tired( and my brain fried to a crisp), that I blacked out while presenting (mind you this was 20 minutes after my "rehearsal" with my Senior Director). Very similar to forgetting your lines in a play. Embarrassing, but I almost think they were so burnt out they didn't even notice! That, or I was so far gone that I couldn't perceive their reception.

Tonight I can relax, because what is done is done. However, due to it being year-end, our deadlines are all pushed up. Things that wouldn't normally be due for two weeks are due on Monday. Joy. Great, because then I might actually be able to enjoy and not work on my vacation towards the end of the month. Cruddy, as have to stress and think about variance analysis all weekend.

In non-accounting news, I am going to make an effort to enjoy my life this weekend with a Christmas Tree, lights, leftover champagne from Thanksgiving, Harry Potter on audio and a few nights in front of the fireplace (with cats of course).
