Birthday and Burns Night!: freedom an'whisky gang thegither

What more could a girl ask than to celebrate her birthday with her favorite Poet? For those of you who don't have pictures of your great grandfathers in kilts, played with dolls wearing tartans or uncles that play bagpipes or nanas that start speaking to you in gaelic and sing lullaby's about "wee drams" (of whiskey). Robert Burns, the national scottish poet, is an icon and they celebrate his birthday rightly so. This year is his 250th birthday and my 25th!

So tomorrow night, the Pike Pub http://www.pikebrewing.com/ is having a Burns Night tomorrow and anyone who wants to come should! We will get there around 6pm and the shedule is as follows:

5:30-6pm:"Good ale keeps the heart aboon".
Owner Charles Finkel taps a firkin of Pike Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale, seasoned with oak, sterilized in Lagavulin. While it lasts $6.50 per pint

6-9pm: "Some cannot eat that want it: but we hae meat and we can eat, Sae let the Lord be
thankit"
Your hair will stand on end as the Elliot Bay Pipe band “Pipes in the Haggis.” Pike Burns’ Night Buffet includes traditional and vegetarian Haggis, Cockie Leekie soup, Solly’s famous Pike Marker smoked salmon, organic vegetables, tatties and neeps, and bread pudding with Kilt Lifter Hard Sauce. Traditional Burns’ Night entertainment includes poetry reading, superb pipe and drum concert, songs and fun. $25/person + tax/gratuity (includes entertainment and buffet)

Anyone and everyone is welcome, it will be a fun evening!

Drat! I'm bummed we couldn't go!

Can we celebrate anyway? Dinner next week perhaps? Let me know if there's a day that works for you.

I hope you had a sparkly happy birthday!
