this october has already been particularly haunting. perhaps it's because the two last movies i've watched were Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and Death at a Funeral, add to that our tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera tonight and that the Ravenous soundtrack has been beating in my head. We also have a resident Bat, coyotes howling outside our window at night, and witch's brew fog that lingers over the winery and milky way farm every morning.
Break went by so quickly. And i'm already overexerting myself everyday with trying to do everything I want to do with the limited resource that is time.
A pleasant surprise: there's a huge plant that climbs over the back shed where we live and we've realized that it's a Concord Grape Plant! And yes we have grapes! Still need some time to ripen though.
I've also realized that Sean is an absolute expert in all things history. Sure he majored in history and minored in Art History, but he is obsessed! This was after listening to him on the phone last night with his Mom explaining to her the history of the local tribes, their customs and beliefs and then having him rattle off the entire American Revolution to Mary which led to him pacing our living room while he picked all of his American Revolution books off the shelf to freshen his memory! Observing this I began to look around our living room at the numerous paintings and photographs of Native Americans, the French Napoleonic Hussard painted by Delacroix that rests on our bookshelf, the laundry baskets full of sean's book overflow each book with title words like Revolution, Battle, Comprehensive History, Napoleon, (as a side note my Nana calls George Bush "Little Napoleon" and she calls Sean "Lancelot" ) Movement, War, etc. etc; it was then that I realized I married an aisle in a bookstore.
All that said, things are good: i'm living in what appears to be haunted hansville, i might be able to make some wine and i'll never need to visit the history section of a bookstore again!

"I married an aisle in a bookstore".
How totally perfect for the girl who delights in bookstores for their own sake.
A Barnes & Noble day to you dearie!
I must see this vine and this haunted fog and this laundry basket full of books!
