I am in a good place right now. I have finally rid myself of my car! I was concerned at first, that without a car I would be losing time to things like walking home, waiting for the bus, etc. The opposite has occured. There is more time for reading, walking, cooking, thinking, dreaming, and all else that I enjoy. I met a new bus driver, discovered a family of birds that nests inside one of the many hedges on Olympic View Drive, can cook Linguine with Chicken and Peanut Sauce and Bow Tie Pasta with italian sausage and peppers, i'm better at scrambling eggs, I'm writing more, I own a pair of boots and i don't feel so guilty about my cancelled gym membership.
Sean took me to Cafe de Paris for Valentines day for shrimp coctail, pinot grigio, canard a l'orange (duck) and halibut with lemon and capers...yum! Had we been less full we would have stayed amidst the twinkle lights and candles for peach melbe crepes or crepes aux fraises...
Even better, I've been daydreaming constantly about container gardening...overwhelmed with a desire to make things grow, and thanks to Sean's thoughtfulness I am now caring for an elegant White Phalaenopis Orchid, as well as a family of cactii and succulents. If all goes well I want to attempt to grow some strawberries and cherry tomatoes.
I know I am ready for spring because I keep dressing in green. The air does smell warmer and I am missing taking naps at the beach, iced tea, flip flops, outdoor seating, sorbet, post-milk-shake-making-soreness, late night walks, and roses.
I am really cherishing edmonds at the moment. Thinking that next year could bring a new home and a new job is granting me a new perspective of this little big place. I am blessed.
